  • “It’s hard to sum up all the ways that we are grateful for Innova. The teachers are excellent. The community is welcoming. The curriculum is rich and engaging. But if I would identify the one thing that we are most grateful for, it would be this: our children are thriving. They absolutely love going to school, not just to see their friends, but to learn. That is an incredible achievement, and Innova has done it all with our kids in an environment that glorifies God and presses the gospel into the hearts of its students.”

  • “Since our daughter started Innova Academy, we have watched her develop a sincere passion and love for learning. She thrives in this learning environment and at 5 years old expressed her love of art, science, geography and language! We are constantly impressed as she shares with us what she is learning and we are so thankful that she is developing a practice to see God in everything – not just on Sunday. What we feel is unique and critical about Innova Academy is the intentionality around creating future leaders and individuals who shape culture rather than being shaped by culture. It is amazing that our daughter is a part of this. We highly recommend Innova Academy and believe by sending our daughter here that we are investing in her future the best way we can.”

  • “When we were introduced to Innova’s classical Christian curriculum, we were immediately convinced of its value. It has been so gratifying to see our children come home excited to be learning about historical figures and cultures, composers and hymns, and great works of literature. More importantly, all subjects focus on the truth of the Gospel and, through sound Biblical instruction and apologetics, the teachers and staff partner with us to equip our children to be strong Christians in the community. The smaller class sizes and individual attention our daughter and son receive have really helped them flourish. We truly feel blessed to be a part of the Innova family.”

  • “We have a habit of putting on the Jeopardy game show during dinner. Occasionally, our oldest son in high school would blurt out the right response, followed by, “O yeah! I just learned this.” Of course, education is much more than doing well in trivia. We did struggle with whether to continue to send him to Innova high school but we are so glad we did! Teenagers may have different ideas about their education, but wise parents would know that building their character is paramount. We believe education at Innova, from elementary to high school, will pay off multiple folds long after our children have graduated. Marks are important but one’s Christian character, worldview, and values are fundamental. Innova Academy has been God’s gift to our family, the value of which we are only beginning to realize.”

FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • Why establish a classical Christian school?

Innova Academy was founded upon the desire of a group of concerned parents and educators to address the need for a school that will provide a thorough and expansive academic education, impart a solid grounding in the Christian faith, and prepare students with the communication skills they need to effectively engage the culture. We believe that the classical model of education is the best way to meet these goals.

  • What do you mean by classical and Christian?

By classical we mean that we adhere to the methodology of the trivium, seeking to teach all subjects in a manner consistent with the appropriate developmental stage of the child. By Christian we mean that we uphold the tenants of the Christian faith as outlined in the Apostles’ Creed. All aspects of our curriculum are founded upon and informed by a biblical worldview. For a fuller explanation of classical Christian education refer to this article.

  • Who is eligible for enrollment at Innova Academy?

Criteria for admission include parental adherence to the Christian faith as outlined in our statement of faith and a student’s ability to manage well within provided resources. See our Admissions page.

  • Is classical education only for academically gifted children?

Classical education is both rich and challenging for academically gifted students and accessible to those students with average academic ability.

  • How large are your classes?

Innova Academy values smaller class sizes but reserves the right to determine class size limits based on various needs within each classroom.

  • How much homework should my child expect?

The homework load consists of approximately 10 minutes per day per grade as well as time to explore great books at home.

  • How do you view technology in the classroom?

Students are taught to responsibly and effectively use technology for various assignments such as research, writing composition, and presentations.

  • Will my child be able to successfully transition to a public school should the need arise?

The curriculum at Innova Academy exceeds the rigors of the public school curriculum. It is expected that students will not experience academic difficulty should they transition into a public school.

  • Do you provide extra-curricular activities?

We believe that extra-curricular activities are an important part of student life. As enrolment allows, Innova offers musical, academic, and sporting teams and clubs. These include participation in ACSI and YRAA sport competitions, ACSI and Classical School Speech, art and music contests, including ACSI, ACCS, and the Markham Fair. Students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities as long as participation does not hinder academic performance.

  • Why are students required to wear uniforms?

We believe that uniforms encourage respect, order, excellence, and a sense of school community. See the Uniforms page for information on purchasing school uniforms.
