While completing her degree in Dietetics, Melissa had the opportunity to teach several nutrition classes to children and knew she wanted to pursue a career in education. Melissa worked as a teaching assistant in a grade three class while completing her teaching certification and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix in Arizona. Before joining Innova, Melissa obtained 5 ½ years of experience teaching grades 1, 3, and 4 in the public school system and 4 years of experience teaching grades 2 & 3 in private Christian schools in the states of Arizona and Nevada.
Melissa’s areas of service include working with her church and Habitat for Humanity to build homes for those in need in both the United States and in Guatemala. She enjoys small group bible studies and volunteering to help with the church’s youth clubs.
When she’s not teaching, or involved with church, Melissa enjoys spending her free time with her husband and two boys. You can usually find them at a hockey rink, playing catch, or doing something active together.
